Dedicated to serving child oncology patients and their families

Disco For Children at Texas Children’s Hospital

We had a total blast at the annual Legends event at Texas Children’s Hospital in January. With all the support from the local community for this fundraising event, it is always one of our most well attended parties. We are grateful to TXCH for including us every year. By my count, that’s four years running that we’ve been fortunate enough to throw a party along side all the other fun activities.

As usual, we’ve posted an album of pictures on the Beading Cancer Facebook page. You can see all the pictures here.

Party At Texas Children’s.

The Beading Cancer team was back at Texas Children’s Hospital. Thanks to all the families and the staff for making us so welcome. We love coming to spend the day with you.

This is another party we plan to establish on a monthly basis, so keep checking our calendar for future events.

You can see all the pictures from this party at the Beading Cancer facebook page.

Return To CHLA.

Last Thursday, after a long break, Beading Cancer returned to Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. It was a pretty relaxed day with just a few families. It’s always nice at the smaller parties when we have the chance to spend time getting to know everyone so well. Thanks to the new amazing staff in the Child Life department who welcomed us back in without missing a beat. Can’t wait to see you again soon.

Beading Cancer plans to re-establish this party at CHLA on a monthly basis, so stay in touch with us and make sure to check our Calendar for upcoming dates.

Check out the Beading Cancer facebook page to see all the photos from the party.

Swimming in Beads.

Last week we received a HUGE donation of beads from May’s JewelryBeading Cancer is now sitting on tons of loose, unsorted beads, which will provide hundreds of kids hours of entertainment in the hospital.  We definitely have some good work in front of us organizing this generous contribution.  To all you parents out there with kids who are “so bored” and don’t have anything to do in this last month of summer, I think we’ve got a pretty great idea how to spend a few hours while helping out a great cause.  It’s also an excellent way to spend some (inexpensive) quality time at home with your family.

Beading Cancer gives a big thanks to Nina Rotan for volunteering to sort some bags of beads in her spare time.

The Donation Button.

Alas.  After a very late night, with the entire Beading Cancer IT department feverishly focused on a single goal, we were able to place a DONATE button at the top of our new website.  A mighty feat!  OK, well maybe it’s not such a prodigious accomplishment; placing a little yellow button in a website.  However, this is great news for all our friends who are always asking us how they can help support Beading Cancer.  Now it is simple.  Just come to our freshly groomed website  and click on the conspicuous yellow DONATE button at the top of the page.

For those of you who do not already know what we do, you can learn about Beading Cancer here.

The Step Forward.

We are proud to announce that we recently acquired our 501(c)3 status from the IRS. Beading Cancer is now able to accept tax deductible donations and officially function as a non-profit organization.

We are grateful to Conrad N. Hilton Foundation for being our first donor and providing us with the much needed funding to keep our program running as well as giving us the opportunity to expand our reach.  Stay tuned to our new site here for details on how you can join Hilton Foundation in supporting Beading Cancer with a  donation.  A “Donate Now” function with paypal and credit card options is coming very soon.  We’ll remind you to check back in a few days!
